Hi, newbie here :)

I'm from Lithuania (Eastern Europe). I don't have 929, but I need your help regarding differentials that were used in HCs. I've already tried searching some forums (including this one), but couldn't find specific info...

So, I'm looking for the 929 differential, because I want to use it for rx7 turbo II diff swap into miata/mx5 - shorter pinion makes mounting the front of the diff much easier (+ final drive ratio is lower). I know that such a swap has been done numerous times - 929 carrier, pinion, ring + rx7 t2 LSD and rear cover. However all the info is from USA and as such only 929 3.0l diff was used.

Are the diffs from 2.0 and 2.2 versions of 929 HC (they are more common here than 3.0 version) different/smaller - not 8" and won't be usable for such a "diffenstein" ? If they are, how can I tell them apart? I called to a few local breakers and one of them told me that they have a differential from 929 '88 but they don't know what engine that car had. The diff has quite a bit of surface rust so I assume that I won't find any markings left on it. I've never seen any 929 diff up close. How do the units differ externally ?
