We have a 2002 Mazda MPV. Last weekend we were driving on the highway and had to make a sudden stop. My husband hit the brakes hard 2x, and a short time later there was a burning smell coming though vents and light white smoke coming from right side of hood. I don't know if hitting the brakes hard has anything to do with this, but since it happened within about 5 min I thought I should mention it. We had the air on and turned it off thinking this was the issue. The smell went away and the smoke stopped. When we were able to pull over my husband opened the hood but couldn't see anything wrong. We didn't use the air for the rest of the trip and there were no other issues. Later on he did check the oil again and it was very low. We haven't taken the van on a long ride since then, we have used the air with no issues on short rides. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
