I have an HC series 2, first regd. in 1991 and bought in 2011 with 57,000 km on the clock. It has been beautifully smooth until around a year ago. It has now done just under 80,000 km.

Now, driving at between 55 and 65 kmh (constant, accelerating or decelerating) there is what appears to be a rapid vibration from the driveline. It disappears above and below these speeds and is slowly getting worse.
It feels like a universal, but I've been told it could be the torque convertor.

It wasn't there to start with, and now I'm being told (by my servicing garage - non-Mazda) it could be the torque convertor, rather than a universal.

What would the experienced people here suggest is the problem?

Thanks,
David
