Just recently purchased an ‘88 Model 929 and the electric windows do not work. I’ve been told that all four windows do work when fed 12v directly, however when all in circuit they do not operate and will blow fuse.
Upon closer inspection I’ve found that the driver side door switch board has some small scorch marks on the circuit, is it a bad ground that would cause this? Is it possible that replacing the switch board would solve this?
If the master switch panel (driver's door) got wet due to the window being left open in the rain it can cause a premature failure of the internal electronics. If you can find someone with the same model and borrow their switch panel and see if your car functions normally with it.
John c. is on the right track. the control module in the door is commonly the issue with this. if it gets wet and you attempt to use it it shorts itself out on itself because water makes a cross connection there on the board. you don't need to look any further than the board. replace the board. once you get the new board i suggest coating both sides in dialectric grease before you install it. this won't hurt the board and it will prevent this issue from happening again if you get it wet again. this is the oem fix to the issue of the board shorting out.
also i would recommend you put dialectric grease on the auto door lock switch then put the grease on the lock and window switches in all doors as well to protect the system further from this issue or it will occur again.
