Just bought a 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring with Tech Package. Discovered that the garage door buttons on the Homelink autodialing mirror do not light the way they do on every other car. Called the dealer and they told me that's the way it is. What? I guess illuminated buttons are too high tech? Why illuminate anything in the car? I read online that if I got the Homelink mirror as an add-on instead of in the tech package, the buttons light.

This is a safety hazard. Others have written about this and almost had accidents fumbling for the button. What is going on? The car is beautiful in most other ways but this is ridiculous.

Mazda, anybody reading this?

I have a 2013 CX-9 Touring which has the Homelink that was added at the dealership when we bought it. It has the dim red lights on the buttons. I also have a 2015 Mazda6 Grand Touring that has the factory installed Homelink, and the buttons are not lit on that one. I asked the parts guy at the dealership and he did some research and found that's the way it is.
