It is SO nice to have them on the car, the hood on the CX-5 weighs so much. Now it just glides up and glides down. Why would Mazda be so cheap and not put these on stock?

So easy and such a great mod!

Have you documented the whole process? It seems like you enjoy working on this build.
LOL um no it was very simple even though the set didn't come with directions. And you're a funny guy calling it a "build", love the sarcasm.

Hood struts are such a luxurious extra. I added them to my Mk1 Mazda 6 wagon and also love them. Keep the prop rod in place because if its windy or really cold or they just fail over time you'll need it.
I also added an under-hood LED work-light to help those long, northern latitude, night fluid checks.
