I've purchased two 2.3 engines and disassembled same. Both had blown rods and cranks. I cannot find that dang crankshaft. Anyone out there have a line on a crankshaft for the Duratec 2.3 engine? They were in B2300 trucks in this year range. My project is an 05 Ranger. I think the year range was 2002 to 2011 for this engine. Vin Code "D" in the Ford.

Nope, both cranks lost #1 piston rod and thrashed the front journal to smithereens.

It appears Ford had a rod issue or something that causes an oiling issue for that engine. I guess all you can do is keep searching for a used one......if you can't buy a rebuilt crankshaft.

Yep, found an interesting swap, 2.5 short block and bolt the 2.3 head onto it with some minor tweaks and still use the old ECU. This may be the route I'm going with this engine.

Thanks all for your replies, I've found a proper short block to use for this build............ If there is one thing I've learned in this build proper maintenance is the key. The first two engines looked like they'd been dumped in a sludge pond and baked in the desert. The Third engine 87K looked brand new.
