theres only one 89 5 speed forsale nearby me for the past year. owner wants $2600 for it with 167,000 miles. not worth it buts I can't find another one

If the body is good then it don't sound like a bad deal. I'd like to see you do a 5-spd conversion for less then $2000.

Less than 2000? I almost bought a running wrecked car with 5 speed for 925+7% tax. $2000 for a 5 speed swap is outrageous, its not even that much for a t56 trans setup.

for 2000$ usd, i would go lt1/t56, 2jz/r154, 4.6/t56 and have one hell of a fun car.

I have a whole vg30dett swap at my disposal for FREE so I'll see what happens this summer :devil: . I'd rather go all mazda though just for the bragging rights. I can see a built dohc, 20B or 4 rotor when I get a steady paycheck.

U didn't buy that parts car???

hi mate,

the console isn't different that im aware of.. its just different at the shifter section with a gearbox boot instead of auto panel.

no i didnt buy the parts car, its missing a driveshaft. And the fucktards working the wreckers were dumber than a stick, and couldnt tell me their ass from a hole in the wall.

Maybe when I get ahold of the owner, I still might buy it. But until then Im buying another s13 and putting the S in storage, maybe next season with a fresh mazda motor.

I got a twin plate excedy clutch $2600 and rebuilt the G/B with all new Syncros $1500 , changing to a FD torsen diff as well FTW!

As some of you might know my trans has been playing up.
it has quite a large shudder in 1st gear taking off so i finally bit the bullet and took it to a auto trans specialist. they fixed all the leaks, put a modulator in amoungst other things. :angry:
the shudder is still very bad and the diagnosis is that because originally i had a pin in the vacuum modulator that was like 20 thou out which was the original cause of the shudder. Now, because it has been shuddering with the DOHC motor it has stuffed up one of the clutch packs in the motor.

the trans place advised that a rebuild would cost about 1200 - 1500 bux
an mate of mine (who i have yet to contact) had a manual conversion kit for sale for $500 :whistle:
im thinking i might convert over to manual and piss the slush box away for good.

any thoughts? (w00t)[/b]

the dohc vacuum modulator is different to all sohc and jft are different to but 3lt sohc and 13bt are the same its for kick down and line pressure bt i had ta block mine off because it was suckin trans fluid up and blowing the biggest cloud of white smoke bt works fine with out it connected lol o and im converting to manual asap
