Here is how my conversation with Mazda Canada has been going regarding a warranty replacement of my engine on my 2019 CX-5 Signature. Engine died on October 17th 2021.

Dear Ariel Lioznyansky,

Based on the ETA of March 2022, this an approx date of availability, the engine may arrive mid Feb, early Feb or late March. Depending on Covid concerns/outcomes, this date could potentially get pushed back further than March 2022. At this point covid is a complete unpredicting circumstance as we are working as diligently as possible.

In regards to the rental, I do have some customer situations who are without alternate transportation. I have good friends at a previous auto manufacturer where no rental vehicle are available due to the shortage. Being able to get to Whistler has no bearing on the vehicle you were supplied with, will precaution be needed to complete the venture, yes. When I lived in Alberta and took a ski trip that direction, I was safely able to get to my destination in a front wheel drive modified turbo vehicle. The only downside was due to the lowered suspension which allowed myself to be the snow plow for other consumers.

Don't forget, back in the 90's when most vehicles were front wheel or rear wheel drive, not to mention snow tires were not as popular as they were today, people managed to get up to Whistler and Sunshine hill in Alberta.

If I hear of any further information with regards to the eta, either myself or the dealer will certainly be in touch.

Happy New Year Jason,
Just wanted to contact you and confirm that Mazda Canada is still on track for delivery of the Engine this month, I just spoke with the dealership and their system is still showing the engine backordered with an anticipated date of arrival of March 2022. I will remind you that my car has been under “a Warranty repair since October 19 2021”, and that I have been unable to use my season pass to Whistler, as the rental provided to me is not an AWD SUV with winter tires.

Looking forward to your response.

Dear Ariel Lioznyansky,

Thank you for the email reply.

Due to covid, this situation has impacted everyone and everything. Due to the numbers ramping up, I would imagine the ski hill will be expected to postpone certain days if not the season, not to mention if the roads were that bad, one would not be going up that direction regardless of snow tires. I have been to Whistler many times when living out that direction previously in my career without snow tires, I picked my days wisely and kept my distance.

Mazda Canada will not be reimbursing for the season pass.

Sincerely,

Hi Jason, my rental car can't handle snow conditions, which means i can't go to whistler and use my season pass, is Mazda willing to either upgrade the rental to an SUV or reimburse me for my season pass?

Dear Ariel Lioznyansky,

Thank you for the continued patience in the matter.

I would like to inform you that the current status of the engine assembly as of yesterday, would be January 2022. As we all are aware how covid and flooding within Vancouver area has impacted the economy. We have been working diligently with regards to other options available in order to assist customers to the best of our ability.

At this point unfortunately, we will have to continue with the waiting game, please stay in said rental vehicle until further notice.

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Jason

Hello Ariel,

Thank you for your patience regarding the status of your engine order.

As you may know there have been many issues regarding shipping throughout the pandemic, I have reached out to our parts and inventory team regarding the status of your engine. As of now the engine is currently in-transit but we have received significant delays caused by shipment and supply chain issues.

The only update I can provide closest to an ETA is sometime early in the new year. We greatly appreciate your patience and understand this is frustrating, but unfortunately this is the only update I can provide at this time.

Please let me know if you have any further questions at this time.

Kind Regards,

Russell

Hi Russell, thank you for the response. As discussed with Stanley at Mazda Canada today, December 9th 2021, I would like this escalated to a supervisor, as I am not satisfied with the response of “sometime early in the new year”.

So you are upset that during a world wide pandemic you can't get a new engine immediately?
