Step 1: Open the driver's side door, and then press the lock button (on the door) so all the doors lock and the security light comes on.

Step 2: Unlock the drivers side door by turning up the switch so the security light now turns off.

Step 3: Insert your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC position, and then take out the key. Repeat this three times. (remember to take the key completely out!) <span style=\'color:red\'>[EDIT: I am told that the car should be turned ON, not just to ACC, for this step. Follow the instructions but replace ACC with ON. -malice4you]

Step 4: Close and open the door three times. The car should now beep once.

Step 5: Press any button on the remote two times. The car should beep once again.

Step 6: Wait 5 seconds and then the car should beep four times and your remote is programmed!

I attempted the code reprogramming of a new remote on my 2001 milly, and it fails to work....The car does not beep at step #4 to allow programming the remotes. Any suggestions would be appreciated....

This worked for my 1997 Millenia S and others with FCC ID: KPU41048

How to program the keyless remote:

Setting up:
1) Sit in the driver's seat and leave the door open;
2) Find the door-light switch on the car at the bottom of the door opening. It's covered by black rubber and when the door closes, the interior lights go out. So when you push it with your hand, the same thing happens;
• (Alternatively, you can open and shut the door)

Programming the remote:
3) Insert key in the ignition and turn to on, back to off and remove the key; Do this three times quickly
• (Key in, key on, key off, key out -- three times);
5) Then push the door-light switch three times;
6) Push the lock button on the remote twice; a chime should ring once;
7) Wait 10-20 seconds for four chimes, which confirm that it worked.

Programming more than one remote:
Repeat step #6 within five seconds for each additional remote. That way, all remotes will have the same programming.
