My '99 Millenia is indicating a mis-fire on cylinder #5. I've changed the plugs and attempted to measure the impedance of the ignition coils but they all measure an open circuit between any two of the three tabs on the coil.

Does anybody know how to test these coils?

I did think about moving the #5 coil to another cylinder to see if the trouble code would follow it. Of course, #5 is the hardest one to get to and I thought about it after I had already put everything back together.

Thanks.

I have a 2000 Millenia S. The engine was idling rough/misfiring? and the check engine light was on so I took it to the Dealer. The diagnosis was a bad #4 coil. On the repair bill the mechanic said he switched the #4 coil with the #2 coil(I beleive) for diagnostic purposes to confirm the coil was the culprit, so I assume they had no way to check the coil. They charged me $315 Canadian for a coil and 2.8 hrs of labour.
