hello;
first time here. We have a 2013 mazda cx5 and have had our first problem. at 78,000 miles the switch on the shifter column has gone bad. I forget its correct name but I call it the park safety switch.

when the car is put in park and turned off the car acts like it is still in drive or neutral so the light on the ignition switch stays on and the radio will stay on instead of powering off when the car is shut off. it started to kill the battery.

Our car is out of warranty because of miles and mazda wants $700. they say the switch is bad but the entire shifter column has to be replaced.

does that price sound insane to any one else and is the switch made into the shifter so one can not be replaced without the other.

I'm assuming this place is just dead and or worthless for information as there are no replies to almost all the questions
