I want to add a Subwoofer w/amplifier to my Protege5's factory deck (6 disc changer, tape deck) . Anyone do this themselves yet?

I'm wondering if it has a pre-out, and if so how I would get back to it?

If not, I guess I'll have to wire it into the speakers...

I read from someone in another board that simply by replacing the factory speakers with aftermarket coaxials makes a huge difference in sound quality.

there is a stock 3"-4" sub in the hatch... but it is pretty shytty! I wired my amp, basic installation from the battery... then you know you have to have audio wires, from your head unit, to the amp... you you can just buy a converter, and slice it into the wires from the factory sub... then just run the rca cables from the converter to your amp...the stock sub wires also have a remote wire, so you can just run that to your amp too... then just connect your ground wire, and you are good to go! Overall it doesn't sound too bad, but would sound much better with a aftermarket cd deck!
