Hello, I am the owner of a 2002 Mazda Protoge5. My water pump pulley has movement to it. I can hear it and see wobbling in and out a little when my car is running. I am wondering what could cause this, is this a sign of a water pump that needs replacement, or could it be possible my pulley blots have come lose. I have little to moderate car knowledge so any information would be great.

So I had taken off my water pump pulley. One of the 4 bolts were broken, but that could have happened durring removal. I can wiggle the waterpump part that the pulley attaches to and it has a little movement, should this be or should it be completely stiff?

Bearing may also be shot in time. Best if you replace the whole assembly. Do consider checking timing belt in the same time.

Best remedy is always replace. I would replace the whole water pump assembly and do the timing tensioner/idlers & belt at the same time...
